Custom Cold Heading of HyMu80, Iron, Nickel, Molybdenum for a Medical Application

Using our custom designed and built precision miniature multi blow cold heading systems, General Wire & Stamping Co., Inc. was able to manufacture a series of custom-built premium quality hearing aid bobbins for a medical electronics customer in Switzerland. The bobbins or core as they are referred to in the industry are made from a nickel, iron, and molybdenum alloy called HyMu 80.

By successfully cold forming the large volume ratio flanges, we provided our customer a great cost saving over traditional welding of a three piece assembly. Maintaining a concentricity tolerance of .003 or better and overall tolerance of +/-.002 we've been able to not only meet, but exceed our customer's expectations.

Using carefully developed and controlled finishing and atmospheric annealing processes, we manufacture 50,000 to 250,000 units per order, we are able to offer a six-week lead time for delivery to our customers manufacturing division in China.
